Elizabeth Seton Drama Instructor, Mrs. Jodie Johnson, and fifteen Seton Roadrunners spent two days touring the sights and sounds of Broadway during Spring Break. Their tour included lunch inside Rockefeller Center and a backstage tour of Radio City Music Hall, where they met and took photos with a Rockette. Additionally, they took in two shows: Disney's hit musical "Aladdin" and the murder mystery/comedy "The Play That Goes Wrong."
Students also had a chance to meet one of the cast members from "The Play That Goes Wrong," Preston Boyd, who shared with them the realities of working in the industry and details about his background and training and also took time to answer questions. Says Mrs. Johnson, "He [Boyd] was super nice, personable and encouraging of the girls' interest in the arts. Then, seeing him on stage the following day, portraying his character so convincingly that we almost didn't recognize him, really made an impact!"
Finally, students participated in a theater/improv workshop led by Lou Liberatore, a Tony award-nominated actor with decades of experience.
Mrs. Johnson is hopeful that what they took in will have a positive influence on their performances next week.
