Elizabeth Seton's varsity mock trial team defeated the team from Eleanor Roosevelt High School to clinch the Seventh Judicial Circuit championship on Tuesday, March 24, at the court house in Upper Marlboro.
A panel of three circuit court judges presided over the match and by a two-vote margin gave the win to Seton's defense team. The match was close, with the students from each team putting forth their best arguments and presentations. In discussions following the match, the judges complimented both teams for their display of excellence.
Previously, Seton had defeated both Friendly High School and Bowie High School in order to advance to the final circuit match.
Competition now moves to the regional level, with Seton next facing the winner from the Fifth Judicial Circuit, Severna Park High School. That match takes place on April 14 at the Baltimore County Circuit Court.
